Onzole River Community Carpentry Workshop – update

September 13, 2010 by maureen ·

Through the concentrated efforts of Scott Martin and Joel Martin, along with Dale Horst, approximately half of the needed financial investment for setting up and operating the carpentry workshop has been received. We are very grateful for this good beginning, and we hope that further discussions with interested friends will allow the launch of apprenticeship training.

Five Fun Days – a success!

September 13, 2010 by maureen ·

I really enjoyed planning for camp and being there to help facilitate it. The Sunnydale Connect youth did a fantastic job leading the program! It was very helpful to have Katelyn Bearinger organize and plan with them; having her work with them gave them a lot of support. It was a lot of work, but once the kids came it made it all worth it! Having a large area to have the programs was so very helpful and nice to be able to spread out. People coming in from the community and becoming aware of Sunnydale is a good idea. It was interesting to have a mime and the big puppets come in. It was a somewhat crazy week but very enjoyable! Through this experience I know some people have a passion to help these children. And for myself, I really enjoyed getting to know the Sunnydale Connect youth and lots of the children. Five Fun Days in my eyes was a success!
